Our prescription filling process:
- When you receive a prescription from a physician, bring it in or request it be sent to Rutland Medical Pharmacy.
- Drop by to pick up your prescription.
- Chat with our friendly team members if you have any questions.
- If it is a new prescription or if any questions have come up since your last refill, our pharmacist will chat with you one-on-one about your concerns.

Prescriptions for minor ailments and contraception
As of June 2023, our pharmacists are able to write prescriptions for minor ailments and contraception. You can book your appointment through the Government of BC website.
How to book an assessment:
- Visit the Government of BC minor ailments and contraception website
- View the self-assessment tool to determine if your symptoms match one of the eligible minor ailments
- Select “Book an appointment”
- Fill in your personal information
- Choose “Search by pharmacy name” and type “Rutland Medical Pharmacy”
- Complete the booking process

Virtual Doctor’s Appointments

Our pharmacy services include virtual doctor’s appointments. We have partnered with Avee Health to facilitate convenient online doctor’s appointments for our patients.
How do I book a virtual doctor’s appointment through Rutland Medical Pharmacy?
- Give us a call at (778) 753-7070
- We will set up an appointment with our partner Avee Health on your behalf
- The physician will phone you at the agreed time (usually the same day)
- Have any prescriptions sent conveniently to our pharmacy for pickup

Book a one-on-one appointment with a pharmacist to thoroughly review your medications, ask questions and identify possible changes.
What is a medication review?
- You book a one-on-one appointment with your pharmacist, usually about 15-20 minutes in length
- Your pharmacist goes through your list of medications with you and answers any questions you may have
- The pharmacist will also discuss any other healthcare needs that you may have
- You let your pharmacist know about any side effects you may be experiencing and any concerns you have about your medications
- If necessary, your pharmacist will flag questions or issues to discuss with your prescribing physician
- The pharmacist will look for opportunities to reduce or discontinue unneeded medication from your profile

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
Pharmacist-assisted device setup
Our pharmacists can help you get set up with an Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) device and instructions for its use.
What is ambulatory blood pressure monitoring?
- 24 hour blood pressure monitoring may be requested by your healthcare provider in order to get a better picture of your blood pressure over time
- You’ll wear a special device for a 24 hour period that collects data while you go about your day and as you sleep
- This data is used to confirm a diagnosis or identify the cause(s) of blood pressure changes

OAT Prescriptions and Care
Compassionate care for patients with opioid agonist prescriptions.
Rutland Medical Pharmacy provides opioid agonist therapy (OAT) and support for community members who need it.
What is oat?
- OAT (opioid agonist therapy) uses medications to treat opioid addiction and support recovery for those who currently or formerly use opioids.
- It is most often used in tandem with other treatments such as counseling, comprehensive healthcare from a physician and mental health services and support.
- OAT is a crucial part of holistic community health and healing.
