BC Pharmacists can now prescribe some medications.
Have you ever asked yourself “what can pharmacists prescribe in BC”? As a result of new BC legislation, we are now able to provide you with a range of services that offer fast and accessible solutions for common health issues.
What kind of ailments can you see a pharmacist for?
Our dedicated pharmacists are here to assist you with 21 minor ailments, provide guidance on self-care, and even offer contraception prescriptions—all free of charge for British Columbians when you visit us in person at our pharmacy.
You no longer have to see a doctor for treatment of some ailments. Pharmacists in BC can now prescribe birth control, among other things. Get a prescription for conditions like urinary tract infections (UTIs), allergies, pink eye, dermatitis, and nicotine dependence. You can also seek help from a pharmacist for things like acne, canker sores and cold sores, shingles, fungal infections, headaches, menstrual pain, pinworms and threadworms and more.
This change means that patients in BC can expect more timely access to the medications they need, resulting in better health outcomes.
Other services we can offer
One of our pharmacists at Rutland Medical Pharmacy can renew or change a prescription. We can also help you with an emergency refill, or review your medication with you and/or make a treatment plan.
Book an appointment with one of our pharmacists today for an assessment. An assessment may result in a prescription, advice to manage the condition or a recommendation to see a doctor.
